Over the last several weeks, many of us at the UQ node of the EDG have been busily organising an international conference (we don’t do things by halves around here!). For the first time, the Student Conference on Conservation Science will be held in Australia – after successful events in Cambridge, Bangalore and New York.
SCCS-Australia will be held at The University of Queensland, in Brisbane, Australia, over 21st-31st January, 2013.
The purpose of SCCS – Australia is to build a network of early career conservation science professional across the Asia-Pacific region, and to provide training in skills and tools for regional conservation scientists.
In addition to the 3 day conference, SCCS-Aus will feature 3 days of field trips and sightseeing in Brisbane and the surrounding region, followed by 4 days of training and workshops. 100 places will be available for attendance at the conference, 30 of which will be fully-funded.
If you’re interested in attending, head to the website (www.sccs-aus.org) and check the application procedure and your eligibility for a scholarship. Online applications open on 29th June 2012 – so hop to it!
